“These are brilliant Andrew! I am so pleased with the photos so far. You have captured shots exactly how I had imagined them, and that is a real credit to you. Thanks for your wonderful work and effort“.
Michelle, Entica Design

“I was really knocked out by your work. You didn’t just nail the brief you took it a step further and really added to the concept “.
Owen Johnson, Crow Films

“I just had a quick flick through - the shots look fantastic, very serene and calm “.

“On behalf of the Council of Trustees we would like to thank you for the generous donation of Andrew Rankin’s photographs of Roger Kemp and David Boyd.

Rankin is well known for his portraits of famous Australians, particularly artists, and your gift presents the Gallery with the opportunity to include these insightful studies in the photography collection. One of the strengths of the Department of Photography is the collection of artist’s portraits. This aspect of our collection is used not only in the Department of Photography, but also by other departments in exhibitions, publications and multimedia.

Gifts such as this are a vital element in ensuring that the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria continues to be among the finest in Australia“.
Yours sincerely,
Gerard Vaughan & Steve Vizard, National Gallery of Victoria

“I have just reviewed the CD images that you took at Cruising and I was inspired to pen a quick note of congratulations for the work you have completed to date on the Centenary City Celebrations. The event shots of Tropicale and Cruising capture the spirit of these events and the audience, providing a richness of imagery for future event promotions. Those vehicle enthusiasts, who participated in the promotional shoot for Cruising, were delighted with the outcome as was our graphic designer, greatly strengthening our communications material.

With the Strand Opening Celebrations, Townsville’s Millennium Celebrations including the Olympic Torch Relay; Federation North including the Military Tattoo and Fire and Water; and now these Centenary City Celebrations, you have managed to take what have become so many iconic photographic images of Townsville and its people. Your management of the subjects, totally varying light conditions and difficult accessibility to the subject in the instantaneous environment of events is remarkable. As the community continues to invest time and resources to stage these iconic events, I personally would not trust anyone else to capture and record them.

Your relaxed professionalism and ability to understand and exceed the brief are second only to your ability to consistently deliver outstanding images.

Congratulations yet again and keep up the excellent work as the best in all of us is yet to come“.
John Aitken, Producer

“Townsville Enterprise employed Andrew Rankin during a significant photographic shoot earlier this year. Photographs taken during this shoot will be used to promote North Queensland nationally and internationally.

Andrew was required to liaise with Townsville Enterprise to produce a shot list and then travel through North Queensland with Townsville Enterprise staff during the shoot. He provided quality advice in the lead up to the shoot and was willing to work long hours in order to gain the best possible photographs.

He produced dozens of high quality photographs from all corners of the region, which have now been used in advertising, in promotional events and on a CD that has been distributed by Tourism Queensland and Townsville Enterprise.

He communicates well with photographic talent and the shoot was trouble free.

I would recommend Andrew to anyone considering a larges scale photographic shoot“.
Andrea Grant, Corporate Communications Manager TEL

“It was quite by chance that Matthew and I found Andrew Rankin. We had visited a large number of photographers yet none of them seemed to sit right with us. I’m very glad that we discovered Andrew, as I just can’t imagine having had anyone else print memories of our special day. Andrew devoted his time to us and nothing was too much trouble. We knew he was busy, but he ALWAYS made us feel as if he had all the time in the world to get our album just right, just the way we wanted it. Our family and friends love the result! Our album is fantastic and one, which we are very proud to get out and display to anyone who cares to see.

Andrew is unobtrusive, good value and most importantly a VERY talented photographer. We encourage you to see for yourself, and we promise you, your album will be as good as or even better than the display album that Andrew keeps in his studio. What more can I say other than … choose Andrew! He’s great! And you won’t regret your decision“.
Matthew and Amora Durward

“Thank you for some truly magnificent photos. I think I promised myself a long, long time ago that some day you would do my wedding photos – and you did me proud! You are so gifted. Use it well“.
Much love Heather Brown

“Please accept this gift as a small token of our appreciation for the wonderful compilation of our wedding album. The talent and time you invested have truly provided us with a treasured keepsake. You took every one of our ideas and turned them into reality, reflecting our own style and personality. The patience you showed with our meticulous planning was greatly appreciated!!! Our album now provides a very accurate, emotion-filled reminder of every moment of our special day. Thank you“.
Kylie and Andrew Behan

“From the word Go, Liam and I were completely comfortable with the thought of entrusting our most important memories to Andrew. He was very professional yet approachable with our own ideas of what we wanted for our wedding album. His photographs were stunning and I would have no hesitation in recommending Andrew to any of my friends or family“.
Felicity and Liam Nicholas

“I must compliment you, and congratulate you, on the consistent excellence of your THE AUSTRALIAN magazine, found in the Weekend Australian.

Generally, the choice of subjects is relevant and intelligent, and very well researched and written. As a, now retired, cinematographer I naturally take a special interest in the photography in your magazine.

I am particularly impressed with the work of Andrew Rankin, in whose artistry I have followed and learned to recognise as his over the last 12 months or so. Obviously a man with great talent and who takes his work seriously, he has done some outstanding photography for your publication.

You probably won’t mind if I ask you to pass this letter on to him, or at least congratulate him on his talents on my behalf. He has consistently shown good taste, and good technique and an innovative approach to the great variety of subjects he has been asked to photograph.

To-day, with so many well-trained and capable photographers around, it takes a near-genius to be noticed. I just hope that this letter will make him realise that his painstaking efforts are certainly being noticed and greatly valued.

And congratulations to you for having this exceptional man contribute to your excellent publication“.

“Andrew is reliable and able to work collaboratively within the strict parameters of a curatorial brief – a rare quality afforded by few in the creative industries. He has proven on more than a few occasions that he is happy to do the hard yards in order to get meticulous results. Andrew Rankin’s dedication will, I believe, continue to serve him well in his forthcoming projects –a few of which I hope to have the pleasure of his creative photographic expertise“.

“Thank you for your support in helping to make the Thiess-QAC Inside Out Photography Project an outstanding success.

The support that we received for this initiative from the schools, the Council and local businesses was fantastic, and clearly highlights the enormous community spirit in Townsville.

We are sure you will agree that the photographs the students produced were excellent, and demonstrate the creative talent of Townsville’s young people. This project is one, which the students, parents, teachers and community can be proud of.

We appreciate the time you took out of your busy schedule to share your skills and expertise with the students. Feedback from the students and teachers has been very positive, and you may have even inspired some young protégés among the participants. Your efforts helped to give local students a unique opportunity to build their skills and knowledge, and positively contribute to their community culture.

Once again, thank you for your support“.
